AlOOH (Boehmite) is widely used in various industries including ceramic industry as a binder, and also in refineries and petrochemicals as a catalyst, catalyst support and absorbent. In this research, hydrothermal method was employed for production of AlOOH nano-particles. Aluminum nitrate and sodium hydroxide were used as precursor materials in various hydrothermal times (t= 6, 12 and 24 hr) and different Temperature (T= 150, 175 and 200 °C) in the solutions with pH value ~10. Effects of time and Temperature as effective parameters on the characterization of samples were evaluated by FTIR, XRD, FESEM, TEM and N2 absorption/desorption analysis. X-ray diffraction patterns showed that synthesized samples were pure AlOOH and no peaks assignable to impurities occurred. High crystallinity and low surface area of samples were synthesized due to increasing of temperature and time of reaction. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the mean particle size of synthesized AlOOH were around 40 nm and also N2 absorption/desorption analysis showed that the samples were mesoporous.
