Abstract:   (6232 Views)
In this research, Al2O3-ZrB2 composite was produced by mechanically activated self-propagating high temperature synthesis (MASHS) using mixture containing Al, ZrO2 and H3BO3. The effect of Al particle size and mechanical activation on the combustion characteristics was investigated. The XRD and DSC analyses show that Al particle size and mechanical activation affects the mechanism and temperature of combustion behavior of the system. As a result, the ignition temperature of mechanically activated samples decreased from 1114 °C to 972 °C and 650 °C for samples containing coarse and fine Al particles, respectively.
