manufacturing of alumina are the most important technical challenges in producing these parts. Early pieces were prepared by electrophoretic deposition process and spark plasma sintering process using at 1350 and 1450 °C for 10 to 15 minutes in vacuum. The obtained body was studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The samples have been sintered at 1350 °C and 100 MPa, had average grain size less than 150 nm and infrared light transmittance higher than 80% (at a wavelength of 5 microns). It was found that the formation process factors affecting on the amount of light passing. By controlling the porosity, it is possible to control the microstructure after the sintering. This is possible by controlling the deposition electric potential and the distance between the electrodes. In the end, light transmission can be achieved near the theory amount.
